A Christ-centered village of children envisioned to ultimately become independent and self-reliant despite their disabilities and be able to attain a more meaningful, productive and satisfying way of LIFE.
To nurture, educate, train and provide opportunities to physically, mentally and socially challenged children to receive love, care, protection in a happy, therapeutic and non- rejecting environment through residential child care and to promote an accessible home-like environment that will enable them to focus on disability prevention, rehabilitation and equalization of rights in order to grow in a community that will enhance their self-esteem and capability.
Chosen Children Village Foundation, Inc. aspires to provide a permanent home for abandoned, neglected and surrendered children who are mentally and physically challenged. It also aims to provide a training ground for the growing children under its care to maximize their potentials and help them become productive and self-reliant members of the society despite their disabilities and limitations.
the most important things we can give our children are.... roots and wings...
Chosen Children Village is a unique concept in the care of disabled children. The village was founded by Maria Angeles (Lita) Peypoch Fullerton in 1989. Her vision focused on a home environment in caring for Physically and Mentally Challenged Children within a family setting. The traditional institutional setting was something that she felt was not beneficial to the growth and development of such special children with demanding needs.
The Chosen Children Village concept came about after the Las Piñas facility of Chosen Children Inc. was unable to cope with the volume of children needing a home and a family. Located in the cool, clean air of Silang, the 2.4 hectare parcel of land now houses cottages, chapel, school, administration clinic and physical therapy centers. The central focus is a spacious, multi purpose play area where the children fill the air with laughter and squeals of delight.
There is a continuing need to finance this Village so that many more children will be able to thrive in a home environment. The Chosen Children Village and Chosen Children Inc. are both non-profit organizations that rely on donations in the form of child sponsorships or donations for the buildings' construction. Without help from the general public and corporations, CCV and CCI could not sustain this level of care and education.
Lita Fullerton's philosophy states that each and every one of these children deserves to be cared for by people who will love them with a mother's instinct. At Chosen Children, this happens, and she wants it to continue.
The key to every successful society is education. This fact is well recognized at Chosen Children, where education comes in all forms and the needs of each child is acknowledged. The school provides a classroom environment in which the children learn tasks such as tying shoelaces and pressing buttons. Education also comes in the shape of helping in the home. Some of the higher functional children are allocated special chores, like cleaning up after meals or putting away toys. These all help to create a sense of belonging. The eventual aim allows the children, as far as possible, to develop those wings of independence for the rest of their lives.
Physical therapy is another integral part of the children's education and journey towards independence. The physical therapy center will be the largest in the country with a hydrotherapy center and special equipment to suit all the needs of the children. For children with lower functional ability, freedom of movement is perhaps their wings to independence. The physical therapists working at CCV show more than a professional interest in the children's development and progress. The staff and children feel a sense of satisfaction when any task is successfully completed.
The combination of these roots and wings is what makes a visit to the Village a must. Without this marriage of security and freedom, the atmosphere and success of the Village could not exist. For as long as these children need our help, we need your help in keeping the Chosen Children Village successful.
